Abies lasiocarpa is a medium-sized evergreen conifer that is easily recognized by the narrow spire shape of its upper branches. It naturally grows at high altitudes, commonly found at and immediately below the tree line in western north America mountain ranges. It plays a vital role in water management and conservation.
Uses
With its glaucous-blue foliage, Subalpine Fir makes for a an attractive Christmas tree or landscaping addition. It is also a wonderful species to use for bonsai.

Subalpine Fir provides habitat and food for a variety of wildlife.
History & Lore
Abies lasiocarpa had a variety of uses for Native Americans. It’s leaves were used as deodorant, as well as burned for incense and medical vapor. The wood and pitch were used for construction. The boughs were often used in cleansing/purification rituals.
