The Grand Fir tree stands up to its name as it is one of the tallest and fastest growing conifers in the world. However, it doesn’t grow too well when planted East of the U.S.

Uses
The Grand Fir is often used for landscaping and Christmas trees.

Wildlife Value
Many animals utilize the Grand Fir for nesting and cover. It also provides nutritional value as grouse eat its needles, deer and elk enjoy its leaves, and birds, chipmunks and squirrels eat its seeds.

History & Lore
In Oregon through the historic trails of Barlow Road, were overwhelmed with Grand Fir trees. The trees were often used by settlers to slow down their wagons by wrapping rope around the firs. Over 150 years later, the marks on the trees are still there from this activity.
