Notes
Abies lasiocarpa var. arizonica is a medium-sized evergreen conifer that features thick and deeply furrowed bark, giving it a cork-like appearance.  It naturally grows at high altitudes, commonly found at and immediately below the tree line in western north America mountain ranges.  

Uses
Corkbark Fir make a wonderful decorative landscaping addition, the lightweight wood is used in home construction, and the oil and resin are used for multiple medicinal purposes.  It is also a  species to use for bonsai. 

Wildlife Value
Corkbark Fir provides habitat and food for a variety of wildlife, including deer and bear.

History & Lore
Abies lasiocarpa var. arizonica had a variety of uses for Native Americans.  It was considered a messenger between the physical and spiritual reams, holding space between earth and sky.
