Description

Notes
The Serbian Spruce commonly grows on the limestone hillsides of Serbia and Yugoslavia and is considered by many as one of the most graceful evergreens. This is because it keeps its needles all year long. However, in about 200 years, it is expected to be extinct in its native area.

Uses
This tree is commonly used in larger landscapes as an Ornamental specimen tree. It can also be used to produce screening and windbreaks.

Wildlife Value
This tree is known for providing shelter for birds and other wildlife.

History & Lore
The Royal Horticultural Society has once awarded the Serbian Spruce with the Garden Merit award. It is taller and more slender compared to other spruce trees. The needles are unique that present a dark green color with silver undersides.
