History & Lore
TIn 1817, French botanist André Michaux wrote a lengthy entry on the Eastern White Pine. He stated that it was “the most diversified of all pines.” Before the War of Independence, England would use the wood of Eastern White Pine to make masts for its ships (1711-1721).
